Erickson Signature Components 6119 Brooklyn Avenue NE Seattle, WA 98115 (206) 524-7731-Voice (206) 527-0701-FAX December 1, 1995 TITANIUM BOTTOM BRACKET GENERAL RECALL Dear Consumer/Retailer, Erickson Signature Components Inc., and our distributers, SideTrak Inc. and Union/MarwiUSA have all recently received reports of breakage of the Erickson Signature Components Titanium Bottom Bracket. As such, the product may represent an unreasonable risk of serious injury or death to a bicyclist using the product, or to riders who may be riding with him/her, should the bottom bracket fail. While most failures have occurred slowly enough to provide the rider some warning, we in no way encourage you to continue to use this titanium bottom bracket. In fact, we strongly request that you immediately stop using the Erickson Titanium Bottom Bracket. Resalers should immediately alert their customers and employees of this potentially dangerous product. The titanium spindle failure occurs at the shoulder where the bearing seats, and seems to be most common on moutain bikes with severe use. We are currently in the proccess of manufacturing a re-designed product, and as soon as we have completed testing and manufacturing, we will be providing no cost replacments to all of our known customers, or to anyone who ships a complete ESC titanium bottom bracket or spindle. We expect to have replacments available January 1996. Send your recalled ESC bottom bracket to us, at the above address, any time between now and the end of January 1996, and we will replace it as soon as we have your size available. We sincerely regret the inconvenience that we have caused to any of you with this recall, and we very much appreciate your cooperation in our product recall campaign. Please be patient, and we will send you an improved version of the finest bottom bracket available. Michael Ochoa, |
