Race Face CranksRACE FACE LP MOUNTAIN CRANK ARM SETRace Face cranks are made in Canada. A single piece of billet 7075-T6 aluminum alloy is CNC machined to make each arm. The one piece right arm, unlike two piece arms, doesn't permit spider/arm separation or creaking as the spider fastening system bends at a different rate than the arm. The arms uses a graduating rectangular shape with wide cuts in the front and rear and narrow cuts into the sides. At the pedal spindle, the arm is 1" (25.4mm) wide and graduates to become 1 3/8" (34.92mm) wide at the B/B spindle. The arm is 1/2" (12.87mm) thick at the pedal spindle and graduates to become 15.7mm thick near the B/B spindle. On the left arm, it 27.15mm thick where the B/B spindle passes through the arm. There are several cuts made on each arm to reduce their weight. One the right arm, it's 24.50mm thick where the B/B spindle passes through. There is a 19mm wide cut made to a depth of 2mm on the front of each arm. The rear of the arm, has a 17.8mm wide cut made to a 2mm depth. Both sides have an 8.36mm cut made to a depth of 6mm. The spider is 6.35mm thick but machined down to 3.70mm thick where the mid and outer chainrings bolt to it. The inner chainring bolts anchor into drilled and tapped holes in the 6.36mm thickness. The Race Face spider is drilled for the Mountain standard of 110mm (mid and outer) and 74mm (inner) bolt center diameter. The pedal spindle hole is drilled and tapped with 9/16" by 20 TPI threads. The crank arm dust cap hole is bored and tapped with 22mm by 1mm threads. The square B/B spindle hole is made and given its 2 degree taper when it's cut as a part of the mill work on the back side. A B/B spindle length of between 107mm and 113mm is recommended for this low profile crank. We found the Race Face LP cranks had a Bike-Pro Q measurement of 166mm. The Race Face LP arm set comes as right arm with integrated spider, left arm and a set of five inner fixing bolts with their needed aluminum spacers. Made in three lengths, 170mm, 175mm, or 180mm, they are available in four colors, Blue, Black, Pewter Grey, or Silver. Chainrings, the outer fixing bolts and nuts, and crank arm dust caps will be needed separately. The weight of a 175mm Race Face LP crank arms only is 447 grams, the aluminum spacers add 7 grams, the nickel plated steel inner bolts add 27 grams. Specify length and color. $ Price in Catalog |
