Archival Review of IRD Brake Bridge
IRD TUBULAR CANTILEVER BRIDGE
IRD takes a different approach to the stiffening the brake studs by using steel tubing. This was designed to work with the IRD Widget but will work wit all brakes. The tubing is bent in an arch shape with an overall height of 118mm and a wall thickness of 1.34mm. At the apex of the arch the tubing is flattened, pushing the 16.6mm diameter tube into a 19.6mm profile. In its initial state the bridge has a 130.5mm outer width. The inner height of the bridge is 97mm. There is a steel plate with a 7mm hole welded to the bottom of each end of the tube. The holes are 85.5mm on center from each other. The question remains about how the bridge can be adjusted to fit mounting studs placed at distances of other than 85.5mm IRD includes instructions on how the user can custom bend the tube to a narrower or wider dimension. The IRD Bridge comes painted Black and has two 6mm by 1mm cap bolts included with it . The bolts have a 5mm hex fitting, 30mm length and 8 gram weight. The IRD Bridge weighs 103 grams, with the 16 gram of the bolts, the total weight is 119 grams. Made in USA. No longer made, we sold them for $24.99 |
